According to Jashemski, the large peristyle garden which was excavated in 1910, was surrounded by a portico.
The portico was supported by fifteen columns and a pillar. At the rear of the garden was the basin for a fountain.
The peristyle garden opened on the south to a further modest garden, numbered 2.
This was excavated in 1910/11, and Della Corte suggested it was probably a kitchen garden.
At the rear of this garden 2 was a rustic room which Della Corte identified as a kitchen.
