HGW24 Pompeii. December 2006. Doorway to steps to lower level.
From PAH 1,1, p.264-5, 13th June 1772, addendum p. 127 and 158. (see Nos. 46, 47 and 48 below, on the plan by La Vega).
We have initiated the work to recognise a doorway of the aforesaid peristyle, which we believe to be the main doorway of the house, and to evacuate other rooms that were in the above apartment.
Adjoining to the same main doorway, in the internal part of the peristyle, we have dug out a stairway that leads to the lower apartments, and in the entrance we have found a lamp with a bronze wick-holder, shaped like a snail in the act of leaving his shell, and this was made to be placed in any place, having below some hardness which would hold it, or to hang from above by the form of a ring on which was attached a chain, and it was in very good condition.
According to Pagano and Prisciandaro, the inventory number of the lamp is NAP 72261, and further information is in AdE VIII, 66, 301.
See Pagano, M. and Prisciandaro, R., 2006. Studio sulle provenienze degli oggetti rinvenuti negli scavi borbonici del regno di Napoli. Naples: Nicola Longobardi. (p.72).
Here was also found a bronze vase/pot in the shape of a stock-pot.
At the threshold of the entrance doorway, a small ivory spoon was found (0.11m long).

HGW24 Pompeii. Lamp-stand with a square base, standing on lion’s feet. It was decorated with a floral design and at the side with a garland and two bovine skulls. Rising from it was a twisted stem representing a plant stem with three flower branches spreading out at the top. From these hung two lamps in the form of snails. In one of these the snail was partly out of its shell. In the other the snail was entirely inside.

From PAH 1,1, p.261, 7th December 1771,

We continue to work in the mentioned many-times dwelling, where we have lifted the soil from above to introduce us into the peristyle, and we have worked at the same time to repair the exposed building.

From PAH 1,1, p.261, 14th December 1771, addendum p, 124 and 157: (see No.28 below, on the plan by La Vega).

In the digging out of a room to enter into the peristyle, here we have found the skeleton of a dog; the walls of this room are coloured red without being anything special (senza esservi espressa sopra alcuna cosa). Another side room to the peristyle was detected here, and it was found to have a collapsed floor in the lower level, and therefore it has not been possible to rediscover anything here. At the same time, we are restoring the same building, by doing some portions of the masonry, and with wood.

PAH,1,1, p.250, 23rd Feb. 1771 and addendum p.120 (see No.2 below, on the plan by La Vega).

We are digging outside of the city in the dwelling, where last week we found the silver vase/pot, and have found 5 paintings that decorated a room, which were circular (of 0.15m (6 inches) in diameter), and 3 contained paintings of masks and 2 with landscape views and buildings; (according to Pagano & Prisciandaro - NAP 9844) and found in the same room, almost heaped in a corner were: Bronze, Lead, Marble, Terracotta finds (for detailed descriptions, see PAH pages 251-2, and addendum p.118-120).

(according to Pagano & Prisciandaro: (nos 2-3 on La Vega plan): Bronze plate - NAP 73413; Marble medallions - NAP 6636, 6653, 6659; and other 5 marble masks - NAP 6666, and others not identified)

Also found in the same site was a circular table for use as a fountain, 0.79m in diameter and 0.03m in thickness, in which around the above part there was a channel, the water could flow by means of 10 holes that ended in as many heads of lions, the water would have come onto the same table, gushing from a hole that was in the middle; this table was broken into two pieces. (according to Pagano & Prisciandaro - NAP 73019).
