According to Jashemski, this second large peristyle garden had only been partially excavated.
She thought the colonnade of the peristyle continued towards the north.
She thought that this part of the peristyle was destroyed in antiquity when the ledge on which it was built fell down.
The portico, supported by stuccoed columns the upper parts of which were spirally fluted, contained an art gallery of unusual paintings.
These were badly damaged by the 1980 earthquake.
The root cavities of two trees were found, one near the sundial in the north part of the garden.

Villa San Marco, Stabiae, 1951. Excavation of spirally fluted stuccoed columns.
According to the Soprintendenza information board on site, the earthquake of 1980 demolished the peculiar spiral columns of this peristyle.
The shafts were white plastered in their lower part, while the upper part was scored by deep spiral grooves, counter-rotating from column to column – a motif that appears to suggest motion, and is rather unusual in Roman architecture of the 1st century A.D.

The portico ceiling was lavishly frescoed with mythological scenes such as a planisphere, the triumph of Minerva, Hermes, Juno and Hebe.
