VI.15.5 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 22, looking west along north wall.
According to NdS, in a panel on the north wall was a partly preserved figure of a flying Nike.
The painting was damaged at the top and on the right side.
In the left a round dish bearing a palm leaf was held out, and in the right a yellow jar was being lowered, pouring out liquid.
In a panel on the east wall, Sogliano could see a male figure(?) with a short tunic.
In his lowered right-hand he held a “simpulum” (a long handled ladle), and in his stretched out left hand, a “kantharos” (a wine cup with high handles).
In the other panels were a tiger, a swan, a flying griffin, a dolphin, etc.

VI.15.5 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 22, west wall.
According to NdS, this room was decorated with panels with a white background.
On the west wall was a painting (0.38m high x 0.32 wide) of the noted representation of Narcissus looking into a pool.
The painting was shown with two open door shutters, which looked as if they could close.
In the side panels on the same west wall were painted groups of flying cupids (0.29m high).
The one on the right showed two embracing cupids of which one of them was holding a rhyton (a vase in the shape of a horn) high in the left hand.
The liquid was flowing from it into a patera or dish, which the other was holding in the right hand.
The second group in the panel on the left represented Eros and Psyche kissing.
In the west wall, above the painting of Narcissus, was a small window, which was walled-up by the ancients themselves.

VI.15.5 Pompeii. March 2009. Doorway to room 24, oecus. South wall, with small door into tablinum.
According to NdS, this room was a cubiculum and had a floor (“alla veneziana”) and was decorated in the First Style.
On the south wall was the remaining decoration of a previous time showing stucco ashlars.
Afterwards, a decoration of yellow panels divided by white areas with candelabra was substituted.
The dado was on a black background with the usual concepts of marsh plants.

VI.15.5 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 24, oecus. Looking east to wall with doorway into room 6, ala.
According to NdS, originally this room may have been a cubiculum, in the north wall was the recess for a bed.
However, following the renovation of the house and the opening into the ala, this room was probably not a cubiculum, since the bed would have blocked the new doorway.
