Regina, Boscoreale, (from

The
terracotta lamps found in the villa are of a one handled type, with a single
spout from which the flame came. The oil lamp rested on a bronze support.
One oil-lamp, which
bears a cross sign on the outer bottom, documents the human presence in the
area of the villa after the eruption of 79AD.
Le Lucerne fittili rinvenuti nella villa sono di
tipo monolicne, ad un becco da cui fuoriusciva la fiamma. Sul sostegno di
bronzo veniva poggiata la lucerna.
Una lucerna, che reca sul fondo esterno un segno a
croce, documenta la presenza umana nell’area della villa dopo l’eruzione del
79AD.

After the grapes were pressed, the juice of the grapes was fermented in these dolia embedded in the courtyard.
According to the Boscoreale Antiquarium, this villa was used exclusively for the production of wine.
This is shown by the presence of a torcularium and a cella vinaria.
Paleo-botanic research has shown the presence of a vineyard which has today been replanted.
