I.10.4 Pompeii. May 2010. Room 11, north wall. Faded damaged central wall painting.
According to PPM - The central painting on the north wall depicts a young Dionysus and Maenad, (51cm x 51cm).
See Carratelli, G. P., 1990-2003. Pompei: Pitture e Mosaici: Vol. II. Roma: Istituto della enciclopedia italiana, (p. 301, no. 94).
According to Kuivalainen –
The central painting on the east wall depicts a satyr with a cupid, on the west wall Perseus and Andromeda.
He describes the painting on the north wall as –
“A composition of two figures. On the left a robed female figure stands with her weight on her left foot leaning on a pillar with her right arm, on which hangs a cloak; she has a thyrsus with a bunch of leaves on top and stretches her left hand towards a small boy in the middle; he raises both his hands towards the female’s hands above him. Behind them, on the right side, there is a door.”
