IX.1.22 Pompeii. December 2007. Doorway to room 23, looking south.
According to Bragantini etc, this cubiculum had a black dado.
On the south wall would have been a white panel in the centre with a painting of the toilette of Aphrodite, now lost.
The side panels would have been blue separated by narrow divisions (which were red).
The frieze was black.
The upper zone was faded and colourless but would have had architectural designs.
On the east wall would have been a black dado, in the central red panel of the middle zone would have been a banqueting painting with a couple on a bed.
The side panels would have been yellow.
On the west wall would have been a black dado, a red cornice, and blue panels in the middle zone.
