VI.7.23 Pompeii. December 2006. Remains of pyramidal fountain in courtyard.
According to Garcia y Garcia, this area was badly damaged due to the bombing during the night between the 14th and 15th September 1943.
The beautiful pyramid-shaped fountain was destroyed together with the partial destruction of the south wall including the beautiful garden painting with a painted statue of Diana. This was painted on the wall behind the fountain. Also destroyed were the dividing walls of the rooms on the west side of the area.
The damage was partially restored in 1976.
