VI.15.1 Pompeii. December 2006. Looking south across atrium, towards glass case.
This contained an iron and bronze strongbox or safe. This was being restored as at December 2006.
According to Della Corte, found in the inside of the house were two bronze seals and a bronze finger ring:
A. Vettius
Restitutus (S.100 on page 470)
A. Vettius
Conviva (S.98 on page 470)
A. V(ettius)
Co(nviva) (S.99 on page 470)
See Della Corte, M., 1965. Case ed Abitanti di Pompei. Napoli: Fausto Fiorentino. (p.67)
According to NdS, on 10th December 1894, the strongbox was found in fragments, on the left side of the impluvium.
It was then reconstructed.
On 11th December 1894 near the strongbox, two bronze seals were discovered.

According to Sogliano –
“In the middle of the panel was a large painting of which
unfortunately only the lower right corner remains, in which one sees two feet
(perhaps female), with sandals, and part of a figure of a Cupid. The lower part
of the panel is divided into two panels (see above, fig.6).
In the centre of the upper panel there is a low basket containing
vases, behind which rises a decoration, from which two shoots emerge in
opposite directions, describing a slight curve. On the right-side stands a
winged female figure, who with both hands strives to support a large calathus
perhaps full of grapes: in front of her is another high basket. On the left is
another winged female figure, in the act of emptying the calathus into a high
basket. In the lower panels a hunt can be seen, with a wild boar and a doe
being attacked by dogs.”
