The rectangular lava block in the Casa del Citarista I.4.25 in the atrium to the left of the entrance to the peristyle has in the centre an iron spike cast in lead, traces of iron rust on the surface and on the plastered wall behind it. Perhaps the chest once stood against the bare wall, as there are also slight traces of iron where the plaster has fallen off. There are no notches at the corners; the stone may have been walled in order to increase the surface area. See Pernice, E., 1932.
