Via del Vesuvio between VI.14 and V.1. Looking north from the crossroad. July 2011.
Via del Vesuvio is shown on some plans as the northern end of Via Stabiana running from this crossroads to the Vesuvian Gate.
According to Fiorelli, the first excavations of Pompeii started near this crossroads on 1st April 1748.
