IX.3.25 Pompeii. May 2005. East wall of cubiculum. This may be the wall on which was inscribed above a marriage bed, the names of the couple who slept there:
L(ucius) Clodius Varus
Pelagia coniunx [CIL IV 2321] (Lucius Clodius Varus and his wife Pelagia)
A second inscription, to the left of the above one, was also found.
This just gave the one same name again
L(ucius) Clodius Varus
and was given the same CIL number.
See Varone, A., 2002. Erotica Pompeiana: Love Inscriptions on the Walls of Pompeii, Rome: L’erma di Bretschneider. (p.160)
Della Corte agreed and “in homage to the opinion expressed by Fiorelli” said it was the house of the named couple.
See Della Corte, M., 1965. Case ed Abitanti di Pompei. Napoli: Fausto Fiorentino. (p. 160)
