IX.1.16. Pompeii. May 2005. Entrance on Via dell’Abbondanza, looking north. In August 1853, graffiti written in black and red, and found on the pilaster between IX.1.16 and IX.1.17, (on the right), reading

Q(uintum)  P(ostumium)  P(roculum)  iuvenum
aed(ilem)  o(ro)  v(os)  f(aciatis)  d(ignum)  r(ei)  p(ublicae)   [CIL IV 1048]

According to Della Corte, CIL IV 1048 above, is a programme written to the right of IX.1.16, in which the powerful neighbour M. Epidius Sabinus, under the form of a caution, commands the host to support the candidature of Q. P(ostumius) P(roculus), and it read

Q. P. P. (M. Epidius) Sabinus rog(at), o copo Prime  [CIL IV 1048]

Remains of red painted Samnite inscription written in Oscan. Fiorelli wrote that it had vanished.

According to Rosalba Antonini, this is a Samnite electoral recommendation.
