IX.1.7 Pompeii. December 2007. Garden area, looking north. According to Jashemski,
“the small garden to the left of the atrium had a raised planting bed attached to the wall at the edge of the garden, on the east and on much of the north wall. The low wall with space for plants continued on the south side, separating the garden from the atrium. The house was small but well decorated. Two marble tondi (Naples inventory 109 288, and 6622) were found in the garden; the marble Herm of Bacchus (Naples inv. 109 518) and the marble Statuette of Attis attached to a little support (Naples inv. 120 402), as well as 2 marble pine-cones (fountains ?) may have been garden decorations. The triclinium on the west opened onto the garden. There was also an entrance doorway to the garden from the atrium”.
See Jashemski, W. F., 1993. The Gardens of Pompeii, Volume II: Appendices. New York: Caratzas. (p.225)

According to Lucia Anna D’Acunto, the following marble objects were found in this garden, atrium and second room to the left. Marble disc (Oscillum), found in garden on 21.4.1857, Naples Inventory number 6622. White marble decorative shield (Clipeo) found in garden on 2.8.1871, Naples inventory number 109288. Herm of Dionysius, found in second room to the left on 28.5.1866, Naples inventory number 109518. Table support (Trapezoforo) of a young boy with phrygian cap, found in atrium on 3.5.1866, Naples inventory number 120402.
