VIII.3.18 Pompeii. May 2010. Looking south-east across atrium towards corridor to rear rooms and peristyle. Taken from VIII.3.19. According to Boyce, there is a large recess formed from heavy masonry walls (in the centre of the photo). Fiorelli called it simply a recess to contain a cupboard, but Breton thought it was the lararium. According to Boyce, it may well have been a lararium.
