VII.15.5 Pompeii. September 2005. Looking east to entrance doorway, with holes for support beams of balcony. As these were recognised at the time of the excavation, this allowed for the reconstruction of the projection. The exterior walls were covered with painted stucco decorated with large red panels bordered by “yellow carpet edging”, and above were yellow bands, whose color, because of the heat of the eruption products, had become red.

As these were recognised at the time of the excavation, this allowed for the reconstruction of the projection.

Looking north-west from entrance doorway towards two-sided counter.
According to Gaedechens (1872), at the end of the counter on a pillar leading to the atrium, was found in very fresh colours a painting, which should count among the worst of Pompeii. 
Under a painted temple arch is Mercury (height 0.52m) turned to the left, in short and white dress, from which two red stripes descend on the front; over this he wears a short reddish coat, spread at the back. 
His winged hat is yellow-grey and tied under his chin by a red ribbon; 
He wears brown boots adorned with some detached pieces; the greenish wings, however, protrude from the naked legs in a singular manner above the boots. 
In the left arm rests the caduceus, in the right he holds a rimmed bag with three pendants; it is clearly of leather; 
At his left is a colourful cockerel, on the right an omphalos wrapped in bandages and a black snake with white belly, crest and red beard: 
In the upper field there are two peacocks facing each other.

Boyce recorded a rectangular niche and his plate showed a plastered wall to the right of it which presumably covered the second niche. In front he recorded a cylindrical altar of about 0.5m height covered in stucco painted in imitation red and white marble.

Boyce recorded a female figure reclining on a kline or couch, under an awning.
She was naked from the waist upwards and wearing a yellow robe from the waist down. 
In front was a three legged table on which were three jars.
According to Fiorelli this figure was Libera.
