According to Liselotte Eschebach, this is a stable with livestock watering and feeding rack.
To the right are holes for brackets, also large beam hole.
In the middle is a large round masonry vat or trough, next to it a well, or cistern mouth.

According to PPM, this was a Caupona, originally dependent on the house and communicating with it through a door in the rear room.
The shop, in the centre, had a counter for serving wine, with an adjoining hearth.
