According to Garcia y Garcia, the bombs that fell on the houses to the north and south of this luxurious house caused the decline and partial ruin of the paintings on the north wall of the peristyle.

According to Jashemski, the luxurious garden, excavated 1829-30, was entered from the north side of the atrium.
It was enclosed by a portico of twenty-four stucco-covered columns, red at the bottom, white at the top.
