Drawing by Giuseppe Marsigli of a painting which was found on the wall of the “esedra”, or the room on the left side of the atrium.

Nothing remains of the painting which showed a young water god and Maenad.

Now in Naples Archaeological Museum. Inventory number ADS 109.

“In the south-west corner of that wall, at floor level, a 1.15 m wide, 0.75 m high, and max. 0.15 m deep niche, covered with plaster, and with remains of colour, is inserted into the wall. For a description of the wall, see room 17, north wall.”

“The floor in this room consists of a simple cocciopesto pavement without further decorations.

In the north-west corner, some remains of the red paint, which covered the floor, are preserved.”
