I.10.13 Pompeii. September 2005. Entrance doorway.
According to NdS, -
This wide doorway, with a wooden threshold and brick door-jambs, led into a rectangular room (6.10m x 3.50m) with walls covered by a high cocciopesto zoccolo, and upper walls plastered, the flooring was cocciopesto, and the ceiling was flat. 
In the west wall, other than a bricked-up doorway communicating with one of the rustic rooms of the Casa del Menandro, the first brick steps of a wooden stairs leading up to the mezzanine was found in the south-west corner. 
The threshold was occupied with two thirds of the short side of the brick counter covered in cocciopesto and painted red, having the hearth at the west end of the long side and two small clay dolia embedded into it.
