I.4.17 Pompeii. May 2005. Entrance on Via dell’Abbondanza. Looking south.
Two large terracotta dolia were found buried in the soil of the shop-room. They contained “farina molita” (flour) that Fiorelli thought was probably sold from there. They are no longer visible.

According to Della Corte, on the pilaster to the right of the shop, CIL IV 768 was found:
M.  Epidium  Sabinum  d(uumvirum) i(ure) dic(undo) o(ro) v(os) f(aciatis) dignus  est defensorem  coloniae  ex  sententia  Suedi  Clementis  sancti  Iudicis consensu  ordinis,  ob  merita  eius  et  probitatem  dignum  rei publicae  faciat(is)  Sabinus  dissignator  cum  Plausu  facit.

I.4.17 Pompeii. May 2005. Entrance on Via dell’Abbondanza. Looking south.

I.4.17 Pompeii. December 2007. East wall of shop-room.  In March 1858, on the pilaster between I.4.18 and 17, painted graffiti in red and black letters, was found:
