Perhaps, seen at the base of the panels were birds pecking, also the candelabra that divided the middle zone panels. The decoration on the east and south walls were less well preserved.

VIII.4.4 Pompeii. March 2009. Room 17, north wall. According to PPM, in the black zoccolo were alternating panels with plants, now completely faded. The middle zone of the wall had a red panel at its centre edged by a border, the side panels were yellow and edged by a “carpet” design of garlands (dei tappeti tesi delimitata da ghirlande). At the centre of the panels were vignettes. The frieze of the wall, with a white background, contained young figures carried in plant branches populated by cupids and animals. The upper zone of the wall was white.

According to PPM, in the black zoccolo were alternating panels with plants, now completely faded.

The middle zone of the wall had a red panel at its centre edged by a border, the side panels were yellow and edged by a “carpet” design of garlands

(dei tappeti tesi delimitata da ghirlande).

At the centre of the panels were vignettes.
The frieze of the wall, with a white background, contained young figures carried in plant branches populated by cupids and animals.

The upper zone of the wall was white.
