The high walls at the rear on the left centre, are the kitchen walls, the other high walls belong to a cubiculum.

According to Fiorelli, found in the exedra reached by the corridor, was a landscape painting showing Hercules and Telamon freeing Hesione.
Nothing remains other than the description by Helbig.

The name of this house must have originated from a painting of Pan found there, see N. Corcia, Storia Delle Due Sicilie Dall'Antichità Più Remota Al 1789, Vol. II, Napoli, 1845, p.381.

According to RMB –
The man who, …………………………, sees at the corner of this Forum,
opposite to that where the Basilica is, a road wide enough, in which a few feet
away from the portico was a fountain. Behind this fountain opens a small door
that leads into a house neither large nor much adorned. At the rear of the
peristyle of this house you can see painted, in a small room, the faun in this
published drawing (Tav. L), whose composition was rather graceful …………

According to Eschebach, this may have been found and seen in
this house, but now no longer available.

(Note: from the description in RMB – “a small door leading into a house neither large nor much adorned.
At the rear of the peristyle of this house you can see painted,

The small door could also have described the doorway of VIII.2.12,
(on the opposite side of Via delle Scuole from VIII.3.31), leading into the
peristyle of VIII.2.13, with small rooms on its south side.
