Doorways to atrium, room leading to VI.15.7 and doorway to oecus.
According to Jashemski, the peristyle garden to the left of the atrium originally had a portico on the east side.
It was supported by five stucco-covered brick columns, two of which were engaged, yellow above, red below.
Of the four spaces between the columns, two were later left open; the third was closed by a low masonry wall.
The fourth was incorporated into the west wall of the small room built to the south of the portico.

According to NdS, in the centre on the east wall was a small painting showing cupids taking objects from a small box for the toilette of Venus: the one on the right was already holding a circular mirror, the other on the left was, perhaps, taking out a jewel?

Kuivalainen comments –
“A young naked Bacchus with a panther, depicted in exceptionally large size, in the same manner as the Venus on her respective wall. The artist was very talented, and may be the same one (or used the same pattern) as in the House of Iulius Polybius, showing elaborate curls……………………”
