VI.9.2 Pompeii. W.578, detail from north wall of peristyle 16, the fourth picture from east end.
According to Warscher this was a painting of Apollo.
Schefold showed it as Helbig 205.
Helbig described the painting as:
Apollo sits on a stone seat, against which his bow and quiver lean.
His right arm is propped up, his left arm lays on his thigh.
He is looking thoughtfully ahead.
In front of him a cupid is crouched, playing the god’s cithara.
