VI.2.22 Pompeii. September 2005. Looking towards north-west corner of triclinium.
On the north wall of the triclinium a trace of the central painting could be seen.
On the right, in the north wall, can be seen part of the doorway to the west portico, and a doorway into a cubiculum on south side of rear doorway at VI.2.15.
VI.2.22 Pompeii.
c.1930. Flooring from an unknown room, perhaps
triclinium or tablinum.
According to Blake –
An effect somewhat similar to
that produced by narrow border strips to set off pieces of marble is obtained
in VI.2.22, by the use of rows of mosaic between simple squares of grey marble.
The whole is enclosed in a border of white triangles set tip to base, a design
not unknown in the first century BC.
The cement paving of the rest of this room, and
for that matter of the greater part of the house, ……. etc. (p.42).

VI.2.22
or VI.1.25 Pompeii.
The
lower watercolour sketch says it is a mosaic in the 2nd house Pompei, which is
from VI.2.22, either the tablinum or a triclinium.
The
central sketch is part of a mosaic in the atrium of the House of Salve.
The
upper sketch appears to be a garland from the Pantheon (VII.9.7) which it said
had a black background.

VI.2.22 Pompeii. May 2011. Looking east across peristyle from west portico, towards atrium and entrance at VI.2.22.
Drawings by Zahn, the griffin and the sphynx were from House of the Danzatrice and were painted in gold on a darkened red background.
We do not know from where in the House.
The decorations in the middle are from the House of the Tragic Poet, and some from the House of the Naviglio.
The decoration at the top was found near the Pantheon.

According to Zahn, the golden one in the
centre is from the Casa della Danzatrice, excavated 1811.
